Our Classes

Ballet

Ballet is for ages 4-8th grade. The goal of the beginning years of ballet is to help grow the love of dance and to teach the basic technique and skills. For grades 3-8, ballet is taught as a combo class with jazz. During these years, we continue to grow the skills, turn out, as well as weight and changes of direction.

Tap

Tap is for ages 4-8th grade. During this class, we focus on creating different sounds and rhythms through combinations of the feet. For beginning ages, the goal of tap is to create a love for the style and learn basic tap sounds and movements.

Pom

Pom is for ages 4-8th grade. During this class, dancers learn different arm positions and technical skills. This class performs at the halftime of an Akron-Westfield home basketball game in January.

Jazz

Jazz is for 3rd-8th grade. This class is included in a combo class with Ballet. Jazz focuses on jumps, leaps, and turns being incorporated into fun, upbeat music.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is for 3rd-8th grade. Akron Center Stage teaches many different skills and combinations while allowing the dancers to learn their own style and groove.

Lyrical

Lyrical is available for 3rd-8th grade. This class teaches technique skills such as leaps, jumps, and turns, while also allowing students to improvise and to different styles of music. This allows students to work on telling a story and to show the passion behind their movement and technique.

High School Technique
